Make it EASY for New Scouting Families to Find You!Put your unit on the map!

BeAScout.org is the application that puts your Pack, Troop or Crew on the map! Potential Scouts and volunteers can go to BeAScout.org find Scouting in their neighborhood. If your unit’s pin is up to date they’ll find you!

  • · Raise Your Pack, Troop or Crew’s Profile in the Community
  • · Recruit More Youth and Volunteers and Help Grow Scouting
  • · Customize your Google ‘pin’ with contact information, photo, special message and even your unit Web site.

Our council’s goal is to have all our unit pins updated by August 1 – in time for Scout Nights. Don’t wait. Follow these simple steps and update your pin today!

Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, pack and troop committee chairs:

  • · Sign in to MyScouting
  • · On the MyScouting homepage, click “BeAScout” in the Unit Tools section
  • of the left menu
  • · Click “Unit Pin Management” at the top of the BeAScout Homepage
  • · Update your unit info!

CPE & CLA Continuing Education Class

The James E. West Fellowship Award

The James E. West Fellowship Award nationally recognizes individuals who contribute $1,000 to $24,999 in cash or securities to the Sam Houston Area Council's Endowment. With The Cockrell Foundation Matching Gift Program, even $500 can become a Fellowship Member.  The award is named after the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America who devoted three decades of service to the Scouting movement serving from 1911 - 1943.  Honor an Eagle Scout, Graduate, retiree, soldier, unit leader or leave our legacy for years to come.

On April 16th, the treasures of Scouting could be seen, heard and felt at Reliant Arena. see video Over $1.3 million was raised in Coupon Pack sales, exceeding the previous year by 45%. 

Congratulations to the Council Top Sellers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place:

Brandon Gibson (Tall Timbers Pack 336) sold 1150 packs,  Wyatt Jeffreys (Tall Timbers Troop 413) sold 1055; and Foster Tomer (Orion Pack 469) with 650.  Seecomplete list of Top Sellers

While the food outdoors usually entices a big crowd, the interest inside was just as great due to over 70 partner booths on the midway and the all-new treasure hunt of 11 mystery booths. The Treasure Hunt Winner took home the REI Half Dome tent valued at $175.  Chefs from four Landry's-owned restaurants gave the heads up to Troops 224, 18, 533 and 557.  Check out the complete list  of unit booth winners.

Help Our New Website Grow

With the debut of Arrowmoon District's new website there are some great features we would like to show off.

Forums: First of all take a minute to visit the Forums. They are bare right now but will grow. You need to be registered and logged in to post things and the forum is moderated (when something is submitted it needs to be reviewed before it is visible to the public).

Newsletters: Registered users can also manage newsletter subscriptions, this will take the place of the list-serve currently in use.

User Submitted Articles: Users who desire to contribute content to the site can contact the  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for authorization to write articles. These will be reviewed before they become publicly visible.
