Every year over the course of two weekends Scouts from all levels of scouting help to collect food for the Brazos Valley Food Bank. On the first weekend they distribute bags to be filled with canned goods and on the second weekend they collect these bags and deliver them to the food bank.
Scouting for Food is the largest food drive in the Boy Scouts of America, aimed at addressing the problem of hunger in all communities across the United States. The Arrowmoon District collection effort is carried out by Boy Scouts, Venturers and Cub Scouts across the Brazos Valley. The drive is broken down into two days: bags out and bags in. On the first Saturday of Scouting for Food, Scouts distribute bags with attached notes throughout a designated area requesting residents to fill the bags with non-perishable food items. On the second Saturday of Scouting for Food, Scouts collect the bags and take them to the Brazos Valley Food Bank for distribution to area pantries.
