AdvancementThe responsibility of the district advancement and recognition committee is to motivate and train unit leaders and unit committee members in the advancement program. This should be done under the direction of the council advancement committee and with the cooperation of the commissioner staff and district training committee. The district advancement committee also should work closely with the district executive.
Other responsibilities of the district advancement and recognition committee are as follows: - Set district advancement goals.
- Helps units establish an active advancement program.
- Recruit and train merit badge counselors.
- Maintain a current list of merit badge counselors.
- Provides assistance in Eagle Scout advancement, including Eagle Scout boards of review.
- Provide recognition to district Scouters.
- Provide program resources for the unit.
Internet Advancement Units should review their roster and submit advancements online. This process is usually handled by the unit's Advancement coordinator. Within the Arrowmoon District, a member of the Arrowmoon District Eagle Advancement committee must be contacted and be involved in the approving and signing off on every Eagle project and must serve as one of the members of every Eagle Board of Review. NOTE: Effective August 1, 2009, the national office will no longer accept Eagle applications prior to the 2009 printing. Make sure your Eagle application contains the words "2009 Printing" at the bottom right corner of the second page. The new Eagle Scout application (512-728) can be found on scouting.org (see Eagle Scout application link above).
